The CENTA flexible coupling, type Angleflex is an elastic and flexible medium between engine and propeller shaft, which does not transmit the thrust of the propeller to the boat via the engine and the engine mountings, but by means of an integrated bearing, to the hull or engine bed instead of in a direct and vibration-less manner.

Many boatbuilders have a strong preference for this system because it simplifies the proper alignment of the propeller shaft. In addition, the flexible engine mountings are not subjected to horizontal loading. Sometimes universal joints, originating from the automotive industry, are used for this particular purpose.
