These cowl ventilators are made of silicone. Silicone rubber is a very flexible synthetic material with a service temperature range between -100°C and +200°C. It is resistant to UV light and does not discolour, so it will always looks like it’s brand new.
The cowl ventilators are removable and can be rotated after loosening the knurled base ring by hand. The ring nuts and mating deck flanges are made of hard plastic and the internal colour is red.
